I build software end-to-end. At the Sitka Sound Science Center I shipped a production geospatial platform used by active scientists. I've integrated AI into full-stack apps from scratch, and I run user interviews before writing UI code so what ships actually solves the problem.

Background

About Me

Growing up in the Seattle area, I spent much of my time outdoors, learning to appreciate how small parts of an ecosystem connect to something larger. That perspective shaped the way I think about software. At the Sitka Sound Science Center, seeing scientists use a tool I built to track cleanup sites reinforced that technology can create real world impact.

Outside the terminal I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. My dad cooked constantly growing up, and later working at YunGaNe, a Korean restaurant, deepened that. Cooking and coding scratch the same itch for me: a concrete problem, a process, something you can taste at the end.

I also share my place with two rescue rabbits, Ponderosa and Sassafras, and a wobbly cat named Duck. They are, objectively, excellent.

Experience

Software Engineering Intern

Sitka Sound Science Center

Jan 2025 – Dec 2025
  • Delivered a production geospatial web platform as part of a 4-person Agile engineering team across 12 sprint cycles, taking ownership of the full stack from schema design to CI/CD deployment and iterative feature releases.
  • Engineered a normalized PostgreSQL/PostGIS schema across 15 tables to index and spatially query 700+ real-world cleanup sites, supporting live filtering and aggregation workflows used by 28+ active researchers.
  • Implemented secure user authentication and role-based access controls protecting researcher data entry workflows and site management operations.
  • Led weekly stakeholder meetings with non-technical scientists, translating ambiguous research requirements into scoped features while authoring architecture documentation, API contracts, and deployment runbooks adopted as the project's handoff standard.

AI Travel Planner

Built end-to-end, solo. Engineered a dual-provider LLM architecture (Groq cloud + Ollama local) with real-time Server-Sent Events streaming, OpenStreetMap venue injection to cut hallucinations, and a cross-day deduplication system using canonical landmark IDs, accent folding, and token-overlap matching to keep multi-day itineraries coherent.

Immigration Resource Web App

Conducted primary user research with immigrants and drew on peer-reviewed literature on digital exclusion to drive design decisions. Shipped a free, multilingual platform giving immigrants direct access to civic guides, legal information, and a searchable directory of 50+ local support organizations. No account required.
